Florence Nightingale (1820-1910)
A British nurse and philanthropist, established the profession of secular nursing and revolutionized hospital care and documentation of care as we know it today.

A proponent of public health, she advocated in her writing and practice that the whole person – body, mind, and spirit – could be considered treatable, and that illness may be caused by and affected by one's state of mind.

Diabetic Foot & Castor Oil

Category: Applications
Posted: 2008-12-21 23:40

Of the sixteen million Americans with diabetes, 25% will develop foot problems related to the disease. Diabetic foot conditions develop from a combination of causes including poor circulation and neuropathy. Diabetic Neuropathy can cause insensitivity or a loss of ability to feel pain, heat, and cold. Diabetics suffering from neuropathy can develop minor cuts, scrapes, blisters, or pressure sores that they may not be aware of due to the insensitivity. If these minor injuries are left untreated, complications may result and lead to ulceration and possibly even amputation.

An ideal treatment for these is direct massage with pure Palma Christi castor oil. The anti-bacterial, natural vitamin E, and anti-inflammatory properties will speed healing. Castor oil soothes pain and increases the micro-circulation of the skin - both benefiting this condition. Pure castor oil can be safely applied to open wounds.

Overnight Treatment:
For deeper and/or larger wounds; apply a generous layer of Palma Christi castor oil to area, cover with a piece of flannelet soaked in castor oil and wrap with a gauze bandage to hold in place. Helpful to put a loose-fitting white cotton wool sock over foot.

Schleroderma is often one of several conditions a patient may be suffering from. Body PH, thyroid, rheumatoid arthritis, among others, may also be present.

"Scleroderma is a disease process which is more technically known as progressive systemic sclerosis. It involves the collagenous connective tissues and may cause widespread, symmetrical, leathery induration of the skin, followed by atrophy and pigmentation. The cutaneous lesions are believed to be the external manifestation of a systemic disease, and the muscles, bones, mucous membranes, heart, lungs, intestinal tract and other internal organs may be involved by the same process, resulting in functional impairment such as heart failure or pulmonary insufficiency. "
