The Relationship of Palma Christi Castor Cil to Smooth Muscles
Castor oil works in the body because it stimulates smooth muscles.
When taking castor oil internally the gastrointestinal tract is stimulated to eliminate its contents, therefore acting as a purgative. Naturopaths and midwives recommend an internal dose to stimulate the uterus of a pregnant woman who is at full-term or overdue.
When considering the many different places in the body where smooth muscle is located, the incidences for prescribing castor oil therapies become extremely broad.
Smooth muscle is located in all major organs within the body (except the brain and the heart). Therefore, if a castor oil pack is placed over a specific organ, the smooth muscle of the organ can be stimulated, thanks to trasnsdermal absorption.
This would allow the organ to not only work more effectively, but also allow the organ to detoxify. A prime example of this is the use of castor oil packs to detoxify the liver and its high rate of success.
