As a topical treatment, castor oil is also widely used for skin health and beauty. Rubbing castor oil on hands and feet at night will help maintain healthy and soft skin, as well as reduce callous and dry skin. Massaging the body with castor oil prior to a bath once a week will help the skin retain its natural healing properties as well as stimulate the body’s muscles and internal organs.

To treat skin with tough callouses:

Soak affected area in warm water, to which 1/3 c. unpasteurized apple cider has been added, for 15-20 minutes.

Dry well and massage area with Palma Christi castor oil. If treating feet, cover with cotton socks; for hands, cover with thin cotton gloves.

Best results are achieved if left overnight.

Increase penetration of the castor oil with the application of a moist source of heat*.

I am an osteoarthritis sufferer, and I am aware that many of your readers have written to you explaining a treatment that has worked for arthritic joints in their hands. They have been using castor oil and have gotten much relief.

A modest amount of castor oil (enough to moisten the skin) when rubbed in over the painful joint should be effective without excess runoff. Applied before bedtime will allow more penetration and longer treatment time. For the hands, thin cotton gloves can be worn if so desired.
