Heat Sources & Diabetes

Palma Pro developed Insta'Heat as an alternative to electric and dry heat sources and to provide higher temperatures that last longer than a hot-water bottle.

However, there are other arguments for using Insta'Heat with castor oil therapies or other considerations.

For example: Why does it say on a heating pad/blanket that it should not be used by diabetics?

People with diabetes are advised not to use heating pads or electric blankets because many diabetics have a loss of feeling in their extremities due to neuropathy. Without being able to feel how hot the blanket or pad is, they could be burned or overheat.

In addition, their high glucose levels create a heat in the body that triggers the pancreas to produce more insulin, causing its beta cells to work overtime; ultimately forcing the kidneys to work harder.

Lastly, dry heat is dehydrating. Six molecules of water are required to move one molecule of sugar via the urine. Evidence of dehydration often shows up as skin conditions. Some data suggests that dry, electric heat has a dehydrating effect on bone marrow as well.
